Brokerage Reminder: Have you checked your expiration date lately?

Are you waiting until the last minute to renew your license? Don’t risk letting your license expire — it’s not worth the stress!
The Department of Real Estate (DRE) sends out renewal notices 90 days prior to your expiration date. But this doesn’t mean that you have to wait until then to take your continuing education (CE) courses. You can take the required CE courses any time during the four-year period prior to your license expiration date. By completing your courses in advance, you eliminate having to rush the process, and can avoid crises like lost tests and books, a suspended license and DRE late fees.

Dear Ms. Davey:
The Department of Real Estate (DRE) extends a two-year grace period to all real estate licensees following the expiration of their four-year salesperson or broker license. During the two-year grace period, licensees may complete their continuing eduction courses and apply for renewal. However, if a licensee fails to renew their license before the expiration of this grace period, they must retake the state licensing exam and reapply for a salesperson or broker license with the DRE.
